Curriculum vitae of Seraphim Papanikolaou, Professor in Food Biotechnology – Bioprocesses
                Dr Papanikolaou has graduated from the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) on September 1993. His post-graduate studies have been conducted on the Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine (ΙNPL) in Nancy-France, where he obtained a “Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies” (DEA) in Food Technology-Biotechnology on 1994, a “Diplôme de Thèse” in Industrial Microbiology on 1995, and a “Doctorat” (phD) in Microbial Biotechnology on 1998.
                From February 2004 until now he works in the Department of Food Science & Human Nutrition (DFS&HN), Laboratory of Food Microbiology & Biotechnology (LFMB) as non-tenured Lecturer (until April 2009), as non-tenured Senior Lecturer (until November 2013), as tenured Senior Lecturer (until July 2015), as Associate Professor (until March 2020) and finally as Full Professor (from March 2020) in “Food Biotechnology – Bioprocesses”.
                Professor Papanikolaou has received official invitation for performing review in many journals (>1000 invitations in >120 Journals) like “Annals of Microbiology”, “Applied and Environmental Microbiology”, “Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology”, “Biocatalysis and Agricultural Biotechnology”, “Biochemical Engineering Journal”, “Bioresource Technology”, “Biotechnology Advances”, “Biotechnology for Biofuels”, “Chemical Engineering Communications”, “Current Microbiology”, “Energy and Fuels”, “Energy”, “Engineering in Life Sciences”, “Enzyme and Microbial Technology”, “FEMS Yeast Research”, “Food Chemistry”, “Food Research International”, “Fuel”, “Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry”, “Journal of the American Oil Chemist’s Society”, “Metabolic Engineering”, “New Biotechnology”, “Process Biochemistry”, “Trends in Food Science and Technology”, etc.

                Professor Papanikolaou participated/participates as member of the Editorial Board in the peer-reviewed journals “Fermentation Technology” (OMICS group) (2012-now), “International Scholarly Research Notices” (sections "Biotechnology" and "Energy") (International Scholarly Research Network publisher) (2013-2016), “Conference Papers in Science” (section “Biotechnology”) (International Scholarly Research Network publisher) (2013-2015), “International Journal of Biochemistry Research & Review” (Sciencedomain International) (2015-2017), “American Journal of Bioengineering and Biotechnology” (Columbia International Publishing) (2013-now), “Fermentation” (MDPI AG) (2016-now), “Engineering in Life Sciences” (Wiley) (2016-now), “Microorganisms” (MDPI AG) (2017-now) and “FEMS Microbiology Letters” (Oxford Academic) (2018-now). He is Editor-in-Chief of “Carbon Resources Conversion” (Elsevier and KeAi) (2019-now). He was also the “Guest Editor” in the Special Issues of the journal “Engineering in Life Sciences” entitled “Single Cell Oils”, of the journal “FEMS Microbiology Letters” entitled “Microbial Products from Wastes and Residues”, of the journal “Microorganisms” entitled “Yeast and Fungal Metabolites”, while currently he is the “Guest Editor” in the Special Issue of the journal “Carbon Resources Conversion” entitled “Valorisation of Wastes, Residues and Bioresources with the use of Enzyme and Microbial Technology”. From 2015, he served/serves as “Invited Professor” (one month per year) in the Université de Lorraine (France). 
                His research interests are focused on: Fermentation Biotechnology; Biotechnological valorization of agro-industrial wastes and residues; Production of microbial metabolic compounds (microbial lipids, citric acid, 1,3-propanediol, enzymes) synthesized by yeasts, fungi and bacteria.
