Kalliopi-Anna (Liana) Poulia Kalliopi Anna Poulia is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Dietetics in the Laboratory of Dietetics and Quality of life, in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, in the School of Food Science and Nutrition in the Agricultural University of Athens and registered Nutritionist – Dietitian in Greece. She graduated from the Department of Science of Nutrition and Dietetics in Harokopio University of Athens and she attended the postgraduate program leading to a Master of Science (Medical Science), with specialization in Clinical Nutrition in Glasgow University. She performed her PhD in Agricultural University of Athens, on the field of Hospital Infections and Malnutrition in the elderly. Moreover, she performed postdoctoral research in the Medical School of Athens on malnutrition in patients with pancreatic cancer. After fulfilling the requirements of her M(Med)Sci program she worked in Harokopio University as teaching staff and from 2003 to 2021 she worked as a Clinical Nutritionist-Dietitian in the General Hospital of Athens, “Laiko”. In 2016 she worked as visiting assistant professor in the University of the United Arab Emirates. She is currently teaching in graduate and postgraduate programs in Harokopio University, in the medical school of Athens, Thessaloniki and Alexandroupolis in Greece. She was elected president of the Hellenic Dietetic Association (HDA) for 2 years (2002 – 2004) and re-elected vice president for 9 years (2010 – 2019). From 2003- she was representing HDA to the European Federation of Associations for Dietitians (EFAD). Since 2010 she is an active member of the Hellenic Society of Medical/ Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (GrESPEN) and in 2021 she was elected vice president. From 2014 until 2018 she served as the dietitian member of the Educational and Clinical Practice Committee of the European Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) and she is a tLLL instructor since 2011. Since 2010 she serves as a nutrition consultant in the European Dialysis and Transplantation Association for Nurses/ European Renal Care Association (EDTNA/ERCA). She is an Associate Editor of the journal CLINICAL NUTRITION and member of the reviewer board of NUTRIENTS and of the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics. She has also served as editor-in Chief in the journal Kompass of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Hellenic Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics. Dr Poulia has participated in more than 100 national and international congresses as an invited speaker. Her research interests are focusing in Clinical Nutrition and more specifically in malnutrition, nutritional support, geriatrics, dietary treatment in CKD, cancer and transplantation of solid organs (kidney and liver). Dr Poulia is the editor in 5 scientific books (Clinical Nutriton in Practice - in English, Indonesian and Greek - and Nutritional Care for adults with chronic kidney disease – in English and in Italian). Moreover, she has contributed to 37 chapters in Greek and international scientific books and 42 scientific papers in peer reviewed journals.
